Title Explanation:
There are two reasons why the last section of the novel was subtitled 'TheVictors'. The first reason is because this is the section in the novel where the victors work together to survive. It displays all the struggles until the victors are crowned. Secondly, it is titled this because it is the section where the victors of the Games are finally announced.

Major Plot Events:
This section begins with Katniss's hunt for Peeta until she eventually finds him badly injured but impressively disguised in a muddy bank by a stream. After she returns him to a somewhat healthy state she realizes that if they are going to receive sponsor gifts they need to work the romance angle Peeta had sold during his interview. This plan works and they survive for a very long time in a small cave by the stream where Katniss found Peeta. When Peeta needed serious medicine for an injury the Gamemakers invited all remaining tributes to a feast where supplies they all needed were available. Knowing this could be her chance to save Peeta, Katniss drugs him and goes after the medicine. There she is attacked by Clove, from district 2, and then saved by Thresh who was from her fallen ally's district. She returns to Peeta with the medicine and they survive for a few more days. Eventually they are in the final three along side the terrifying career , Cato from District 2. Although before they have a chance to face off against Cato, a pack of genetically mutated mutts that resemble fallen tributes are chasing all three of them. They manage to find safety on top of the cornucopia , but after a small battle Katniss is able to shoot Cato off of the cornucopia and into the pack ravish mutts. It takes hours but finally Cato's cannon fires and Katniss and Peeta believe they have won. That is until an announcement is made saying that the rule change has been put back to normal and there can be only one victor. Except Katniss and Peeta cannot kill each other so they decide to take a handful of poisonous berries they found and commit a double suicide. Before the berries can pass their lips the trumpets blare and they are both announced the victors of the 74th Hunger Games. When they return to the Capital they maintain the starcrossed lovers act for the cameras and are crowned the victors of the 74th Hunger Games together. On the way home to district 12 Katniss discovers that Peeta was really in love with her , while he figures out that she wasn't really in him. This creates an obvious division between the two, but as they arrive home they still brace each other for support.
