Definition:
Words or phrases that appeal to the reader's senses-smell, sight, taste, tough, hearing. It is used to create pictures in the reader's mind.
Example:
Imagery was used immensely through the novel, but one of the most affective examples would be during the games after Katniss has escaped both the careers and the Tracker Jackers. It creates a sense of taste and smell that Katniss is experiencing vividly. Below is the example!
"A foul, rotten taste pervades my mouth, and the water has little effect on it. I drag myself over to the honeysuckle bush and pluck a flower. I gently pull the stamen through the blossom abd set the drop of nectar on my tongue. The sweetness spreads through my mouth, down my throat, warming my veins with memories of summer, and my home woods and Gale's presence beside me."
