The second part of this novel is entitled 'The Games' majorly because this is the section where the tributes enter the Games and the arena. This is the beginning of the fight and the introduction to the terrors that the arena holds. This is the spot in the novel where survival becomes the main priority since the games have begun. Therefore this section of the novel is titled 'The Games' because this is when The Hunger Games begins and the characters are sent into the arena.

Major Plot Events:
Let the Games begin! In the second part of the novel the tributes are entered into the arena as the 74th Hunger Games begin at last ! After the countdown has ended it appears that Katniss is on her own to survive, but during the first night she faces a major suprise ! As she is hidden up in a tree she sees the tributes from the career districts hunting below her accompanied by her district partner and "love" interest, Peeta Mellark! Although she doesn't have much time to digress this information as she is focused on surviving for the next few days. After facing starvation, dehydration, and giant fire balls Katniss is once again faced with the threat of the career alliance , that have been hunting her based on her gamemaker score and great impression with the capital. To escape them Katniss climbs up a tree that cannot support any up the careers statuesque builds. While in the tree Katniss receives her first sponsor gift and a way of escaping the careers from the young district 11 tribute, Rue. Rue was hiding in the tree top across from Katniss's and observes a Tracker Jacker nest above in Katniss's head. KAtniss saws off the branch containing the dead Tracker Jacker nest and it lands below the tree where the careers were waiting for Katniss. This stunt not only allows Katniss to escape, but also to obtain a bow and arrow that had previously been owned by the Glimmer from district 1, who died from the Tracker Jacker stings along with the girl from district 4. After this incident Katniss forms an alliance with the Rue, the young girl from district 11 who reminds Katniss of her sister Primrose. Unfortunately their alliances ends after a risky plan goes wrong. After they successfully blew up the careers food supply , Rue is killed by Marvel from District 1. In honour to Rue Katniss kills Marvel and covers her body in beautiful flowers while singing her to sleep. Shortly after Rue's death the Gamemaker make an announcement that there has been a change in the rules and that two tributes can win if they are from the same district. Without thinking Katniss calls out Peeta's name and begins to make her way back to him.
