In the play, the Nurse is a motherly figure to Juliet Capulet, and a very close friend. She is a loyal servant to the house Capulet, but even more so to Juliet. She is the only one who Juliet confides in about Romeo and is present with her at both her wedding and funeral.

Thou wast the prettiest babe that e'er I nurs'd.
And I might live to see thee married once,
