I absolutely love reading! I first fell in love with reading in grade three, when my teacher introduced me to the Nancy Drew series. I became obsessed with the mystery and cleverness and proceeded to spending a majority of my summer looking for them at the library. Since then my reading interests have evolved and I am beginning to indulge in more mature novels. I love to read books that are known to be life changing as well as books that are suggested to me. Although I still am I a sucker for Young Adult Fiction, especially by John Green! I have read all his published works and I am very impressed. He is a very intelligent writer and creates young characters that are intelligent and witty. Also, I am always attracted to dystopian novels. I find it so interesting how dystopian authors are able to imagine such different and complex worlds filled with brave and interesting characters. Overall I love to read a variety of genres and have since I was little. I love escaping into a book and learning something new!
Reading skills and interests

I believe my reading skills and interests have altered over the coarse of the semester. I came into the semester mainly reading young adult fiction books, and I am leaving after reading big classics. This can be properly represented through the three books I used for my book talks during the semester. The first was a small novel filled with graphics and drawings, then I moved on to a philosophical novel, and lastly a historical fiction novel . I believe over the course of this semester I have become more mature in my reading selections.
Impact of my Book choices

The books I have read throughout the semester have mainly changed the way I view situations and people. Which is probably the main point to a novel. A book I recently read titled Zac and Mia, changed my views on how I treat and appreciate my family. It did this by representing their relationships with their families as they both suffered from cancer. Another book I read this semester called Atlas Shrugged, allowed me to see that you can obtain any goal you set for yourself and that laziness is the true evil. That really altered the way I approached school work, chores, and my ambitions. Both of those lessons and views will stay with me forever! Therefore the books I have read this semester have positively changed and imapacted the way I view situations.
Insight from readings

The books I have read over the course of this semester have given me insight to a variety of different topics. The first book I read this semester, Everything is fine, gave me insight to the lengths people will go to avoid something painful. I had never really thought of the different ways people cope with terrible issues, but this book gave me insight to that. Along with a great example. The second book I read this semester, Atlas Shrugged, gave me wonderful insight on philosophy! Mainly Ayn Rand's philosophy that you can obtain whatever goal you have and that laziness is the true evil. Overall I had never truly read or even spoken about philosophy , but this book gave me insight to it and lead me to discover other great philosophers. Then the last book I read this semester, The Book Of Negroes, gave me insight to the Trans-Atlantic slave trade and an in depth understanding of what slaves in the slave trade handled. In conclusion over the course of this semester I have read a variety of books that have given me insight on a wide range of topics and issues.
